On the Sixth Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me Six Geese A Laying
On the Sixth Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me Six Geese A Laying…
(Licensed Image Source: 1st Art Gallery)
Welcome back! Just five days ago we celebrated the birth of Christ and I bet many of you are already back into the swing of your normal day and have already forgotten that we are still in celebration!
Actually, every day should be a day to celebrate, however, we often get hung up in our daily routine that we forget to be thankful for all that has been provided to us. I know how guilty I am of this!
Just this morning I was having a “moment” because I focused on all the things that were going wrong rather than all the things in my life that are great.
As Maltbie D. Babcock said:

“Better to lose count while naming your blessings than to lose your blessings to counting your troubles”.

It is so easy to get caught up in our life’s troubles on a typical day.
I challenge you, and myself, to wake up tomorrow with the feeling that, it “is” Christmas Day and carry with you that magical feeling of appreciation in all you do.

Wake up tomorrow and give thanks to our Lord for this is the day that the Lord has made!!
In our Twelve Days of Christmas song today we will give thanks today for Six Geese A Laying. “This is not referencing six geese laying eggs”!
This is referring to the six days of Creation!
*
The first day: Gen. 1:1-5 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. … And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. … And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
*
The second day: Gen. 1:6-8 And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And God made the expanse and separated the waters… And it was so.
*
The third day: Gen. 1:9-13 And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.”… And the earth brought forth vegetation… plants… and trees.
*
The fourth day: Gen. 1:14-19 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,”’ and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.
*
The fifth day: Gen. 1:20-23 And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let the birds fly above the earth”… so God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves with which the waters swarm… according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.
*
The sixth day: Gen. 1:24-31 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so… Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… So God created man in his own image…
*
There is absolutely “nothing” to add to this…”you” are here!
See you on the “Seventh Day of Christmas” tomorrow… “Seven Swans A Swimming”
Wishing you a wonderful and blessed day!

A Blessing for Lovers
~~~
May the blessing of light be with you always,
light without and light within,
and may the sun shine upon you and warm your heart,
until it grows like a great fire so that others may feel
the warmth of your love for one another.
***
“This day I call to me:
God’s strength to direct me,
God’s power to sustain me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s vision to light me,
God’s ear to my hearing,
God’s word to my speaking,
God’s hand to uphold me,
God’s pathway before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s legions to save me.”
From A Retreat With St. Patrick
***
May God grant you always…A sunbeam to warm you, a moonbeam to charm you, a sheltering Angel so nothing can harm you. Laughter to cheer you. Faithful friends near you. And whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you.
***
May your joys be as bright as the morning, and your sorrows merely be shadows that fade in the sunlight of love. May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet, enough trials to keep you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to keep you happy, enough failure to keep you humble, enough success to keep you eager, enough friends to give you comfort, enough faith and courage in yourself to banish sadness, enough wealth to meet your needs and one thing more; enough determination to make each day a wonderful day than the one before.
***
“May the Good Lord take a liking to you… but not too soon!”
***
May the strength of God pilot us, may the wisdom of God instruct us, may the hand of God protect us, may the word of God direct us. Be always ours this day and for evermore. – St. Patrick
***
A Blessing for going out and about ~~~The belt of Christ about you on your going out and your coming in And God be on your road every way you go.
***
May God give you…
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.
